2nd Iberian INSEAD Startup Bootcamp – Thanks all for a great working weekend

Although with a bittersweet taste of mouth (due to the much lower than expected number of attendants/ participants despite a top class program (professor, venue and investors’ jury), 12 of us faced an intense weekend in the Hotel Spa Isabel de Farnesio in the beautiful Granja de San Ildefonso this past weekend (21-23 September)

Since the first minute professor Paul Kewene-Hite (we finally learned how to properly pronounce his last name!!!) captivated the participants with his high level of energy, knowledge, experience and engaging discussions and exercises. 5 ventures started mostly as mere ideas at the beginning of the weekend, but were shaped enormously during the weekend and by Sunday they were ready for a tough and challenging panel of investors jury. Special thanks again to Manuel Balsera, Luis Rivera and Joe Haslam for taking time off their Sunday and come to help and challenge the ventures

Having participated myself in a number of similar programs (in fact teaching somehow a similar version at the corporate level for my current company), I still found the time exciting, challenging and full of learning opportunities. And I can say that even if there are many “cheaper” options out there, the cost of the program was more than justified

On Sunday night, after our group picture and exchanging cards and contacts we still have the pleasure to share a car ride with Paul and learn about his different initiatives and his work at INSEAD to boost entrepreneurship across the INSEAD MBA and Alumni community

We don’t know if there will be a future for Wanitt, WasteForCash, EatIt, MisConferencias o Loan2Cash, but for sure there will be more and exciting entrepreneurship

Below is the testimonial from one of the participants
The bootcamp was really a great investment. Despite just being 48 hours long, the program takes to great depth the analysis of the merit of an idea, how to adapt its business model and eventually learning to sell the project to employees and investors. No surprise so many ventures are being created out of it! It also provides a valuable toolkit to iterate the process ‘solo’ at a later stage, to quickly exploit opportunities that may appear - lessons given are simply door openers that free your own entrepreneurial traits, and INSEAD should incorporate it as a core material
